Tencent Holdings Limited was founded by Ma Huateng, Zhang Zhidong, Xu Chenye, Chen Yidan and Zeng Liqing in 1998, and is now one of the largest integrated internet solutions providers. Through the company’s two principal business operations, ‘social platforms’ and ‘digital content’, Tencent develops and delivers game-changing products, such as social communication platforms ‘Weixin/WeChat’ and ‘QQ’, that connect people with services, foster closer relationships and create new business opportunities. In 2004, Tencent went public at SEHK (00700:HK), with Ma Huateng being the CEO and the chairman of the board. In 2019, Tencent donated RMB 850 million to Tencent Foundation for charitable activities.
